Local Environmental Agriculture Project (LEAP) for Local Food is a Roanoke-based nonprofit organization whose mission is to nurture healthy communities through local food systems. LEAP organizes and operates several farmer’s markets throughout the Roanoke Valley. IDG worked with the nonprofit to design a Community Kitchen in the West End Center facility. With the goal of fostering business development skills, this kitchen provides the opportunity to local small business to commercially prepare and package food items to be sold at farmer's markets, retail stores and restaurants. The space includes a large walk-in cooler, multiple cooking and prep stations, various tables, sinks, and equipment.
