  • Interactive Design Group (IDG) is seeking to hire a Design Principal to be based in Roanoke, VA. This individual will assist in growing and staffing an additional office location in Richmond, VA. The Design Principal will be responsible for developing and managing staff and leading the design on a variety of project types including commercial, institutional, and hospitality. This position offers a seasoned architect the opportunity to take on a substantial leadership role and help build a regional practice within an established, successful firm. The ideal candidate will be client focused, have experience with a wide range of project types, and have the business development skills necessary to grow a practice.

    Responsibilities:

    Actively participate in local business organizations

    Mentor and coach staff

    Lead project pursuits including proposal development

    Manage the staff resources for producing the work

    Oversee and lead project teams through design and project delivery

    Act as an ambassador and professional representative of the firm

    Qualifications:

    Bachelor of Architecture degree or higher from an accredited college or university

    Architectural registration in Virginia

    Minimum of 15+ years of relevant experience

    Past experience in managing designers and architects

    Strong leadership, organization, communication, and relationship management skills

    Strong marketing and business development skills with a track record of successful project pursuits

    Ability to mentor and motivate staff and build a strong collaborative team

  • IDG is looking for a talented and driven individual to lead small project teams and coordinate all project efforts, ensuring effective execution and project delivery. This position offers a seasoned project manager the opportunity to direct the firm’s most complex projects. In this role you will serve as the primary client liaison and be responsible for ensuring client satisfaction while providing oversight and monitoring of work of less experienced staff. You will contribute to business development efforts, be a mentor, and perform all management tasks for the full duration of a project.

    Responsibilities

    Proposal preparation and interview participation

    Meeting with clients to assist in determining the scope of work

    Develop and administer AIA contracts with clients and consultants

    Ability to develop and monitor project budgets and schedules

    Understanding of AIA Masterspecs, including the ability to write Division 0 and 1

    Team building and mentorship

    Manage project workflow

    Monitor and coordinate project budgets and schedules for the team

    Manage small to large scale complex design projects

    Ensure QA/QC of project deliverables in meeting design criteria and regulatory requirements

    Qualifications:

    Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Architecture from an accredited program

    10+ years of experience managing projects

    Architectural license

    Proficient in software packages including current versions of Revit, Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop), and Excel

    Thorough knowledge of model building codes and ability to synthesize multiple code requirements

    Strong written and communication skills

    Excellent client interface capabilities and organizational skills

  • IDG is looking for an experienced project architect to work on a variety of project types from schematic design through the development of construction documents. The ideal candidate will exhibit a strong design sense and technical expertise, be detail oriented, have excellent time management skills, and have the ability to balance immediate deadlines with long term goals.

    Responsibilities:

    Present ideas and designs during interviews and client meetings

    Meet with clients to assist in refining the design of the project

    Participate in several capacities on a variety of projects simultaneously, each in different phases

    Lead the design team through Construction Documentation and provide detailing required for construction

    Plan work effort and design solutions to meet project budgets and deadlines

    Coordinate with consultants and other disciplines on projects

    Work with contractors and other team members during Construction Administration phase services to maintain design intent

    Qualifications:

    Five or more years of architectural experience

    Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Architecture from an accredited program

    Licensed architect or willingness to pursue licensure

    Proficient in software packages including current versions of Revit, Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop), Excel and Google SketchUp

    Understanding of model building codes and ability to synthesize multiple code requirements

    Strong written and communication skills

    Excellent client interface capabilities and organizational skills

  • Interactive Design Group (IDG) is seeking to hire a Revit Technician to help the firm produce working documents for a variety of project types. The ideal candidate is competent in the conventional aspects of architecture and has the ability to perform work independently while receiving technical guidance on unusual or complex issues. You will join a team of hard-working, passionate architects that are dedicated to seeing you succeed.

    Responsibilities:

    Work on a variety of projects simultaneously, using your judgment to prioritize tasks

    Draft Construction Documents and provide detailing required for construction

    Prepares architectural drawings and designs to ensure adherence to established specifications and standards

    Qualifications:

    Associate’s degree in Architecture Technology or in a related field (work experience may be a substitute for an associate’s degree

    Minimum 5 years of experience

    Proficient in software packages including current versions of Revit, Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop), and Excel

    Experience with architectural detailing and with assembling construction documents

    Excellent organizational and time management skills
